Abstract

In recent times, various national plans aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of the country were articulated. These include the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS), which is the country's strategy for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) of the United Nations (UN), the Seven Point Agenda and the Vision 20: 2020. The Energy Commission of Nigeria is required by law to prepare, review and update national plans periodically to ensure that all reasonable demands for energy are met in a sustainable manner.
